Document Archive Services

In order to provide viable alternatives to our customers, Archive Storage support is provided on a case-by-case basis. This approach stems from the divergent needs of our customers and is the result of delivering documents for print and archive for over 18 years. All services are delivered within our secure facility.

The following options exist to support your Archive needs:
  • CD ROM and DVD ROM
  • Web Archive in PDF or HTML format
  • File Export in ASCII, PDF, XML
  • Custom Programming for C.O.L.D. and EDMS systems
The BDI Archive Mission

As a "document delivery" organization, BDI is focused on delivering documents exactly the way you would like to see them while ensuring they meet both short and long-term storage requirements. Our goal is to be flexible and open to client needs and future trends. - You will never hear "You don't really need that." when discussing your ideal scene or long-term goals.

Financial document creation and delivery complexity has grown as institutions invest in more dynamic statement designs. These new designs include all of the features noted on our Statement Re-Design page and more. So, guaranteeing the future life or viability of the document is critical.

CD ROM and DVD ROM

Typical storage applications include: Standard Statements, VISA/MasterCard Statements, Invoices, Transaction Histories, Trial Balance, General Ledger plus more. Virtually, any electronic document in your system is eligible for this service.

CD ROM archive is a cost-efficient, fast-access alternative to traditional microfiche. All CDs and DVDs are created with a built-in viewer and can be downloaded for shared network access. Standard CD ROM features include content indexing, flexible search options and high-quality document reproduction.

DVD ROM is advancing as the preferred alternative to CD ROM for at least two reasons:

1) Lowered cost of equipment and materials
2) Larger storage capacity

At BDI, DVD use is increasing for documents exported in PDF format. The driving force behind PDF use is a growing WYSIWYG* requirement for documents that have been re-designed for PCL, Postscript and Metacode print streams.

(By mid-year 2003, we expect that over 75% of our credit union clients will be converted to 'next-generation' statement designs that will require PDF for reproduction purposes.)

Web Archive

Web Archive is an extension of our eStatement product where documents are stored in a secure environment with all of the design components of the original. The documents are stored in XML, HTML or PDF format. Each customer's archive site can reflect their current Home Page design and can include any of the features offered with eStatement.

You can easily evaluate this option by viewing the eArchive demo and selecting both HTML and PDF formats for viewing. Web Archive is supported with DVD ROM backup for long-term in-house storage retention and can be used as a "first-step" toward establishing eStatements for your credit union or financial institution.

File Export

With increased requests for data re-formatting and enhancement over the last several years, BDI has expanded services to include"export" as a featured service. Traditionally, most document service companies were faced only with the problem of "mirroring" the print format of the files they received. Today this is only a small part of the problem.

Along with handling printer files or database files using traditional methods, BDI also parses print streams and complex data files into XML format for both Web and Print Document creation. This initial 'data conversion' step allows us to create highly customized documents as well as export them for customer use.

Typical export formats are: Restructured ASCII Text, PDF and XML for compatible systems. In 2003, HTML with SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) will also be available as required.

Custom Programming for Export

Both EDMS and C.O.L.D. storage systems often have unique import requirements for document ingestion. Along with validating document export formats, BDI has created specialized utilities to assist in transferring finished documents for in-house use on these systems.
